Have been wanting to check out Vanilla Bar & Cafe for their highly raved Vanilla Dirt Cake which is served in a unique way, in a Flower Pot. Managed to check it out on a quiet Monday night!
Located along a stretch of shop houses at Boon Tat Street which is about 10 mins walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station. Look out for exit to Telok Ayer and you'll find Vanilla Bar & Cafe at the end of Amoy street.
We ordered the highly raved Vanilla Dirt Cake ($9.50) & Molten Chocolate Cake ($11.50)
They have main courses as well but our visit was to mainly check out their desserts! Prices may be steeper here if you're comparing to other dessert cafes such as Wimbly Lu. We decided to try 2 out of 5 of their desserts (excl. ice cream in the menu)
It was such an innovative dessert that caught my attention online and makes me wanna visit Vanilla Cafe so badly. It is serve to you in a Flower Pot with 'dirt' on top which is actually Oreo Crumbs & 2 jelly worms!
Underneath the Oreo crumbs was actually layer of frozen vanilla ice cream. It's similar to McFlurry but in this case the vanilla tasted like unsweetened ice cream. My homz & I stopped after finishing up the Oreo crumbs. Overall, it's quite an interesting dessert & worth trying :D
Being a Molten Chocolate Cake fanatic, it's a must try dessert for me if it's ever on the menu.
Unfortunately, the Molten Chocolate Cake ($11.5) was a major disappointment. It was completely baked inside thus there wasn't any flowing chocolate effect. My expectation was high due to the fact that the price is almost similar to Chilis' which has one of the best Molten Chocolate Cake in Singapore.
I've heard that their mains/ all-day breakfast were scrumptious, desserts maybe not for me. Worth a visit if you're in that vicinity. Overall, a very cosy place to just chill and have a drink, free Wi-Fi is available. :D
